Netflix set to piss off NBA with bombshell Tim Donaghy documentary

Things are expected to get heated up between the NBA and Netflix as the latter are now going to release a documentary on ex-NBA Official, Tim Donaghy, who at one point was the most hated sports personality, specifically a referee in the league, who built one of the most scandalous images about himself by doing things that which were completely wrong in the spectrum of sports.

Netflix has recently been going through a tough time as the platform is now starting to lose their viewers and their stock prices seem to be going down and down. The OTT platform has recently lost a lot of money owing to the loss of viewer-base and they haven’t been able to do anything in order to correct it. With what was suggested by a multitude of people, Netflix was told to reduce the price of its subscription which has been surging since a really long time and doesn’t seem to be fair according to the kind of content they offer. Despite of all of these pleas, the platform didn’t act on these issues and as a result now suffer.

In a really eye catching effort, Netflix is now releasing a documentary on former NBA Official Tim Donaghy who was one of the most scandalous characters in the history of the sport. To be straight to the point, Donaghy was involved in gambling on the games he was officiating in, therefore doing whatever he could in order to make his teams win. Post being caught, Donaghy was suspended from the league and also spent time in prison, amounting to 15 months for the scandal.

Netflix is now deciding to make a documentary on this scandal and the main character, Tim Donaghy, which will also result in disputes between the league and Netflix for the sheer hatred the league would have towards their secrets being spilled out. Let us take a closer look at this report which suggests the same.

Netflix set to release documentary on Tim Donaghy, might lead to disputes with the NBA

Netflix is all set to work on a documentary involving former NBA Official Tim Donaghy who was suspended by the NBA for being involved in unfair means like gambling and officiating in the matches that he bet on and also deliberately giving decisions which would favour the team he had bet on.

Some interesting news and the NBA probably won’t like this content:

According to multiple sources, Netflix is coming out with a documentary on former referee Tim Donaghy. …I heard Donaghy is involved in the film.

The most famous incident of which being the 2002 Western Conference Finals where referees including Donaghy did everything that they could in order to make the Lakers beat the Kings in Game 6. This was the game which had many questionable calls coming from the referees in favour of the Lakers.

With what was also stated by Donaghy, he accused the NBA of deliberately putting him in game 6s in order to take the series to the 7th game, and details coming out on this in the documentary wouldn’t really be like by the Leage. Let us now take a closer look at the reactions people had to the news of the documentary coming out.

Twitter Reacts to the news report stating a documentary on Tim Donaghy

Still mind-boggling to me that the @NBA and David Stern did NOTHING to investigate or reprimand the officials from 2002 Game 6 of Kings-Lakers WCF.

Please let it come out right before the finals and please have incriminating evidence against Scott foster

Donaghy is just in time, I tried to watch a playoff game & man, what a snooze fest. The NBA is boring. Maybe Timmy can inject something to keep us all awake.

I guess Netflix won't be in the live sports market any time soon
