Naked man attacks woman inside Meridian gas station

MERIDIAN, Idaho (KBOI) -- A 23-year-old Meridian man has been arrested after he allegedly attacked a woman at a gas station early Monday morning -- while naked, police say.

Meridian Police says officers were called to the Maverick gas station near Ustick and Ten Mile Road at about 6:03 a.m. for a report of a naked man who attacked a woman.

She was able to fight off the suspect and alerted her 17-year-old son, who chased the man away. Police then set up a perimeter and began looking for the suspect.

About 80 minutes later, officers say they started receiving numerous calls from people who said the suspect, later identified as George Thornock, was entering their homes.

"It's scary, especially when you work graveyards, you're there all alone at night," said Sarah Freckleton, who works at the Maverick. "So knowing that there's someone who can just come in and run around naked I guess, that's kind of awkward and weird. I really don't know how I would handle that situation."

Officers say they were able to track him down and take him into custody. He was eventually taken to the hospital because it's believed he was high on meth.

He has been charged with battery with the intent to commit a serious felony.
