Middleton High students released to parents after bomb threat, area now deemed safe
MIDDLETON, Idaho (CBS 2) — Students are Middleton High School were sent home early after the school received a report of a bomb threat, the Idaho Press reports.
According to police,at about 10:30 a.m. Middleton High School received some suspicious phone calls relating to a bomb threat.
Middleton police and fire departments went and secured the scene, and students were evacuated to the school’s football field, according to a written statement from Josh Middleton, superintendent of the Middleton School District. School officials released students to their parents, who were able to park at a church adjacent to the school, the statement reads.
Officers checked the buildingwith the assistance of Nampa Police bomb detection K9 performed an additional sweep through the building and surrounding areas and investigated the origin of the phone calls.Middleton Police, Canyon County Sheriff, Nampa Police, Middleton Rural Fire Department, and Canyon County Paramedics responded to the scene.
All staff and students left the area unharmed. After school activities and athletics resumed as regularly scheduled.
Middleton Police are still investigating the origin of the phone calls.
